TRANSPORTATION LOT ATTENDANT - SALEM

Position Description

Job Summary :

Responsibilities include maintenance and general repair of lights, fluids and bulbs of the school bus fleet located on the lot. Fueling the buses on a scheduled basis, transporting buses when needed, disbursement of documents to the office and to the drivers when applicable.

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks :

• Demonstrate the proper use of equipment, maintenance of school buses.
• Promote the efficient use of energy in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Energy Conservation Guidelines.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of pupil transportation laws and regulations.
• Maintain an excellent driving record.
• Maintain discipline and control while substituting as a school bus driver.
• Work cooperatively with other employees and is willing to be a team worker.
• Assist bus drivers and others with vehicle complaints, maintenance repairs and service scheduling.
• Serve as a substitute bus driver.
• Assist bus driver with mechanical breakdown, accident or bus body damage.
• Maintain daily fuel schedule for school buses and other vehicles as required.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs as necessary for safe operation of buses / vehicles.
• Maintain routine service schedule for school buses and other vehicles as required by DOE.
• Assist garage personnel in transporting buses.
• Provide after-hours bus lot assistance.
• Work with school personnel with transportation / parking concerns.

Professionalism and Abilities :

Minimum Job Requirements / Qualifications :

The School Bus Driver is required to have, Class B CDL with air brakes, passengers, and school bus endorsements. A Criminal Records Check will be required. A DOE School Bus Driver Physical must be passed.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or GED. Must have a valid Driver’s License for 5 years. Be able to pass a physical exam every year and a TB risk-factor screening yearly. Be able to comply with a background check as required. Have good verbal communication skills and visual ability to observe children. Be able to fulfill responsibilities under pressure, including during emergencies.

Salary : $52,874 - $68,494
