GENERAL DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works in conjunction with the Crime Analyst to research, analyze, and collect data from a variety of sources to identify and evaluate crime series, patterns and trends.
Interprets and provides statistical information for CID and other Department personnel.
Communicates and collaborates with CID and Patrol staff to discuss, review, and evaluate crime patterns, trends, and possible intervention strategy for findings.
Assists the Crime Analyst in the development and preparation of crime summaries, statistical reports, spreadsheets, charts, maps, diagrams, graphs and related materials in order to track and present findings related to criminal activity, patterns and trends
Collect, review, and analyze a variety of internal and external reports in order to determine if offenders can be identified, extra deployment is needed and if preventive measures are necessary.
Prepares predictive summary based on reported statistics, crimes, activity and analysis of typical behavior patterns.
Assists the Crime Analyst in the preparation and presentation of staff reports.
Review and respond to information requests, both internally and externally.
Serves as Department liaison to local crime intelligence groups and organizations, as directed by or in conjunction with Crime Analyst.
Screens visitors and telephone calls for CID, answering inquiries or referring questions to the appropriate person.
Prepares, enters and verifies data in accordance with standardized procedures.
Attends meetings as required, takes notes and preparing prepares minutes.
