Pay Range: Hiring/Starting pay range is $94,200 - $120,050/annually, based on experience.

Position Purpose:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Authority's financial transaction processes, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and treasury operations. This role ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), maintains strong internal controls, and upholds adherence to established financial policies and procedures.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

- Manage the accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions, including revenues, expenses, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure proper segregation of duties across financial functions.
- Monitor and support the efficiency and accuracy of the Authority's accounting system and processes.
- Oversee treasury functions, including debt service management and cash flow monitoring.
- Assist with inventory control and reconciliation processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards and financial reporting practices.
- Proficiency with general ledger systems and financial management software.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Familiarity with budget development, audit processes, and financial reconciliation.
- High level of accuracy and analytical ability in handling financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and other financial tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across departments and levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License required.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
Licenses & Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License is required.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience required.
- At least three (3) years of audit experience preferred.
- Supervisory or managerial experience is desired.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage finance team members, ensuring compliance with internal financial procedures and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Supervise daily activities, providing direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and support professional development initiatives.
- Promote a collaborative and communicative team environment that aligns with organizational goals.
- Participate in and lead special projects and cross-departmental initiatives as required.
Working Conditions:
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment. Occasional travel to RFTA facilities may be required. The role involves extended periods of sitting and frequent use of computers and other office technology. The employee must occasionally lift or move office supplies or packages weighing up to 20 pounds. Workspaces may vary from individual offices to shared or open-plan areas.
