Job Description:
This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Facilities and Capital assets, ensuring they are kept in a state of good repair as directed by the Facilities Management team.
Perform repairs and maintenance of bus maintenance facilities, Rubey Park, RFTA bus stops, Employee Housing, Office buildings, and other facilities as directed by Supervisor.
This position is also responsible for fostering good working relationships with other departments within the organization.
This position will at times operate with minimal level of autonomy and it is expected that personnel in this position exhibit excellent decision-making skills.
Essential Job Duties
Safety is the top priority at RFTA and this position is responsible for the following safety activities:
- Responsible for insuring that all work is performed in a safe and professional manner.
- Responsible for insuring that all bus stops and equipment are properly maintained and safe and in proper working condition.
- Responsible for following all safety rules and regulations.
- According to department standards, conducts periodic safety inspections, walk-arounds, and attends training meetings.
- Operates vehicles while in strict compliance with RFTA policies, directives, and procedures and all Federal and Colorado traffic laws and regulations.
- Utilizing the Organizations Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system this person will monitor and maintains RFTA Bus Stops and Park and Rides, using preventative practices and ordering parts from vendors not in storekeeper. This includes cleaning, painting, general/preventative maintenance, and repairs related to bus stops, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, and EAM software system.
- Performs grounds maintenance, including lawn mowing, snow and ice removal, power washing platforms.
- Operates a variety of hand tools and power tools, motorized vehicles, and light equipment as required.
- Performs a variety of general cleaning including but not limited to: cleaning bus stop restrooms, refilling dispensers and paper products, sweeping, removing garbage, and recycling, washing windows, emptying ashtrays, cleaning parking lots and stations.
- Controls, contains, and cleans up hazardous materials on a regular basis.
- Must be willing to work at any location and provides vacation/sick coverage for all facilities and serves on-call 24 hrs./day, 7 days/week.
- Facility and Trail Technicians that are broken out of their normal duties to assist with snowplow activities are eligible for a shift differential defined by the Facilities and Trails Handbook.

- Ensures supervisors are aware of any relevant events or issues with employees, equipment, or performance.
- Actively and continuously improves professional knowledge, skills, and abilities by participating in routine training sessions and seminars relevant to position and job duties.
- Meets attendance/participation standards for routine safety meetings and training sessions.
- Performs Other Duties as Assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to problem-solve and diagnose issues based upon knowledge of equipment and bus stops.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions found on Safety Data Sheet, product labels, in employee safety manuals, and emergency procedures manuals.
- Basic knowledge of safe material handling and routine maintenance working practices.
- Basic ability to safely operate all equipment associated with Bus Stops and Park and Rides.
- Solid ability to physically perform work required.
- Basic knowledge of proven and safe construction, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical methods.
- Solid mechanical aptitude in all equipment associated with Bus Stops and Park and Rides.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent knowledge required to successfully perform the job duties, including the ability to understand, speak, read, and write English.
Certifications and Licenses
- Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- If employee possesses an out of state driver's license they must provide Colorado license within 90 days of hire.
- Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class C Operator Certification.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in at least two (2) of the following fields are preferred but not required: painting, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, heavy equipment operation, or electrical.
- Position also requires experience using the following types of equipment: bobcat, scissor lift, dolly, pickup truck with a plow and forklift.
