- Coordinate the review, update, and implementation of the District Crisis Management Plan to include auditing the District’s compliance with required drills and exercises.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of the District’s emergency preparedness program to determine effectiveness, and implement or recommend improvements.
- Oversee the management of the District’s safety and security systems including; physical security, alarm monitoring, radios, video surveillance, visitor management, card access, key control, fire alarm panels, sprinklers, and other life safety systems.
- Direct, evaluate and coordinate the purchase and installation of safety and security equipment, technologies, supplies and services.
- Budgetary responsibilities include creating RFPs, managing contracts, and conducting long-range safety and security budgetary planning.
- Oversee, direct and support the work of the district’s risk management personnel.
- Assist and monitor the development of school site emergency preparedness plans and drills in accordance with school needs.
- Assist with and observe required safety drills and advise as necessary.
- Oversee the creation of educational and training materials, and the conducting of training sessions and drills to prepare school staff for emergencies.
- Create and conduct public presentations on district health and safety compliance, security and emergency preparedness, including for the cabinet and Board of Education.
- Meet and collaborate with department security staff, school resource officers (SROs) and public safety partners on a regular basis to review any concerns or recommendations to improve security/emergency preparedness and ensure effective collaboration with local public safety agencies.
- Coordinate efforts with local public safety departments in conducting training exercises.
- Oversee the response to emergency incidents and assist in proper execution of District safety objectives; assist in the investigation of incidents, injuries, accidents, mishaps, and near-miss events; identify root cause(s); recommend corrective actions; and evaluate to prevent reoccurrence.
- Coordinate and manage the District’s environmental health and safety program for organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Compile data for the purpose of analyzing issues and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and/or monitoring of program components.
- Serve on the District Crisis Management Team, Safety and Security Team, Safety Committee and other teams and committees, as assigned.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree in Safety Risk Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Environmental Safety and Health, Law Enforcement, or related field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field, required.
- Experience utilizing the National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocol for organizational preparedness and operations required.
- Direct experience in emergency response is preferred.
- Experience in public schools is preferred.
- Strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Security Technologies - Knowledge of enterprise level security systems and programs, including but not limited to cameras, monitoring and alarm systems, and card access.
- Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness - Knowledge of crisis management protocols, design and implementation of programs.
- Management and Coordination - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) - An in-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in EHS, including hazardous materials management, emergency response planning, occupational health, and environmental conservation.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
This role is responsible for strategic planning and coordination of a comprehensive school safety and security plan and incident response consisting of policy development, program implementation, environmental health and safety program management, physical environment monitoring, prevention and intervention programs and services.
This role is responsible to lead, educate and inform the District in emergency planning and strategies, develop emergency plans to prepare and respond to emergencies, oversee the creation of educational and training materials, oversee and conduct training sessions and drills to prepare school sites for emergencies, and to develop and maintain relationships with first responders, local law enforcement, staff and administrators.
This role is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and environmental programs ensuring the District's statutory compliance to environmental health and safety regulations and requirements.
