General Description
This System Administrator position is responsible for day-to-day support of business hardware, software, and network infrastructure as well as managing special projects. As part of a small team, this is an opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of IT infrastructure activities and technologies from design through implementation and support. Our Business Units and our Customers depend upon IT systems and solutions and this role plays a key role in making that happen.
The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. We are also looking for subject matter expertise in security and networking. This position will work collaboratively with our application support team in ensuring the maintenance and uptime of critical business applications, databases, and integrations. This position may require occasional travel to remote offices.
Specific Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain system configurations, software applications, and server security protocols.
- Oversee system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure uptime, stability, and scalability.
- Manage and monitor system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy new technologies and ensure compatibility with existing systems.
- Assess, plan, and implement system upgrades, patches, and optimizations.
- Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for system administration and maintenance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Optimize cyber security tools and maximize value.
- Automation of repetitive IT tasks as appropriate.
- Serve as escalation point for help desk activity.
- Lead and/or participate in technical projects as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to IS best practices, identify vulnerabilities, and implement mitigations.
- Disaster recovery planning and testing.
Required Competencies
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Azure, and AMS.
- Expertise in VMware/vSphere/ESX/ESXi platforms.
- Extensive Microsoft 365 Administration experience.
- Strong expertise in managing Windows Server 2016 and Win 10/11.
- Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication for data protection and disaster recovery solutions.
- Expertise in managing and optimizing (Pure) SAN technology for storage solutions.
- Proven experience in robust cyber security measures including strategy, threat detection, vulnerability management and incident response.
- Ability to execute projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Required Education and Experience
- Five plus years of experience as System Administrator or similar role.
- Experience developing and maintaining knowledgebases, network diagrams, checklists, and support documentation.
- Experience working with an IT case management or ticketing system (Jira).
Preferred Experience/Competencies
- A willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and systems quickly.
- Project Management / Agile (Jira Service Management/Jira Software)
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, CCNA, VCP, AWS, CISSP, etc.)
