Job Function:
Ensures Robért Fresh Market offers the best possible service and satisfaction for both customers and associates; works closely with management to ensure department goals are met or exceeded; is an expert on all aspects of the department, including products, services, policies and procedures; makes certain all associates are exceptionally well trained; guarantees department is safe, clean, and inviting and displays are always attractive and full of the freshest, highest quality products around.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure each customer experiences outstanding service from friendly, efficient associates.
- Lead by example. Greet all customers and provide prompt, friendly, and enthusiastic service.

- Actively support store leadership and meet or exceed goals set for department.
- Assist management in maximizing profitability and sales through creative merchandising, careful control of inventory, and effective scheduling.
- Help minimize expenses without compromising customer experience or store integrity.
- Be an expert on all products and services offered by the department. Know regional and seasonal availability of items and how to identify, store, handle, prepare, and present items.
- Know, understand, follow and enforce all departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure displays are always fresh and full of accurately labeled and priced product.
- Ensure product is properly handled, prepared, priced, and displayed in accordance with Robért’s policies and procedures.
- Keep current with new trends in the industry and aid management in responding competitively to changes in the marketplace.
- Effectively recruit and train associates.
- Teach associates about the wide variety of products offered by Robért Fresh Market and spur their interest in learning about uncommon and unique items.
- Make certain every associate is properly informed of announcements.
- Ensure all associates have access to the proper equipment and are well trained.
- Encourage communication and respond positively and thoughtfully to suggestions and concerns of associates.
- Foster a beneficial relationship with vendors by interacting with them in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in receiving product by verifying quality and freshness of departmental deliveries. Arrange for proper pick up and crediting of items that do not meet Robért’s standards.
- Monitor vendor costs, report changes, and assist in ensuring a quick, smart response.
- Make certain scales are accurate and provide correct price labels to facilitate smooth transactions at the point of sale.
- Keep accurate and complete records for department, such as sales figures, purchasing trends, gross profit, etc., and provide clear, useful, and regular reports in accordance with company policies.
23. Provide fair and accurate input for performance reviews of associates.
- Manage inventory and follow pricing guidelines to achieve targeted gross profit margin.
- Regularly inspect department and provide feedback and encouragement to associates.
- Keep store clean, neat and free of safety hazards.
- Guarantee compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Prevent shrink, damage, and spoilage of product.
- Share responsibility for informing, monitoring, and disciplining all personnel to ensure full compliance with the rules and policies of Robért Fresh Market, as well as all local, state and federal regulations.
- Support management in making effective decisions regarding operational choices in work procedures, inventory allocations, new product purchases, scheduling, and other situations where multiple factors must be considered to maximize operating results.
- Minimize payroll expenses while maximizing freedom for associates in terms of work schedules and vacations. Ensure department is adequately staffed and able to meet company standards for customer service, product quality, safety, and cleanliness.
- Ensure customer requests and complaints are handled promptly and courteously.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order and kept up to date with industry standards. Report and respond to maintenance problems.
- Maintain effective security standards and procedures for the department.
- Perform other duties throughout the store as directed.
Requirements:

- Must possess the accounting and math skills necessary to calculate gross margins, percentages, and ad losses, create operating budgets, and make financial projections.
- Have basic computer skills and develop proficiency with computer software used in the food industry.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Windows based computers and Microsoft programs including Excel, Word and Outlook Email applications, including import and export functions.
- Competently operate handheld devices, weight scales, printers, modems, and any computer or mechanical equipment used in department.
- Have effective English language communication skills, be able to hear, speak, and understand verbal requests, and be able to read, write, and understand written communications.
- Be able to establish rapport with each department and work with associates to maintain high morale.
- Be able and willing to participate in all aspects of store operations including customer service, front-end duties, product receiving, display building, stocking, and assisting in department.
- Have the ability to stand and walk for five hours without a break. Be able to bend and stoop to move objects and climb ladders. Be able to lift moderate to heavy loads and to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.
- Must be able to operate job related equipment such as scales, hand trucks, etc.
- Be able to work in hot, cold and/or damp conditions such as near ovens or in refrigerated coolers.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination are necessary.
- Have an eye for detail, be able to prioritize multiple tasks, and have excellent organizational skills.
- Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted
- Frequent repetitive motion with hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, frequent twisting at waist.
- Be able to tolerate environmental exposer: damp/humid to dry; temperature variations from hot to cold
- Work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile, concrete, poured non slip surfaces, etc.
- Be able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust, gas fumes and chemicals from common cleaning agents such as ammonia during routine housekeeping duties.
- Be able to work with fresh fruits and vegetables, house plants and flowers without negative allergic consequences.
- Be able to tolerate occasional increase in noise levels in the work environment due to use of power equipment and truck engines.
