Robert Half is partnering with a software company in Golden on an Assistant Controller opening. The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting the Controller in managing financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in payroll processing and a solid understanding of accounting principles, preferably within a technology-driven environment. Experience working with a Board of Directors or Private Equity firm is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Ensure accurate and timely closing of financial records, including reconciliations and journal entries.
Support audits (external and internal) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and policies.
Payroll Processing & Compliance
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payments for employees.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Collaborate with HR to maintain accurate employee records related to compensation, benefits, and deductions.
Manage payroll reporting and reconciliations.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Work closely with the Controller to optimize financial processes and reporting.
Board & Private Equity Support
Assist in preparing financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Board of Directors and Private Equity investors.
Support due diligence and financial analysis related to M& A, fundraising, or other strategic initiatives.
Ensure transparency in financial reporting and investor communications.
This roles offers quite a bit of WFH.
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
Experience : 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Strong knowledge of GAAP , financial reporting, and payroll processing.
Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, MS Dynamics, or similar)
Experience working with Private Equity firms or Boards is a plus.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
