Assistant Financial Controller

Job Description:

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements for our manufacturing operations. This includes day-to-day operations, month-end, and year-end closings. The position involves thorough understanding of manufacturing costs and overheads to contribute to more informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the close process at month-end, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports.
2. Ensure the company's financial obligations are met according to corporate deadlines.
3. Assist the Controller in all areas of responsibility including but not limited to the preparation of the annual budget, monthly and annual financial reports, and variance analyses.
4. Implement and maintain internal controls to support the accurate and timely production of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
5. Collaborate with other department heads to track, analyze, and report on financial data.
6. Support costing activities related to materials, labour, and overhead in manufacturing operations.
7. Adhere to established standards, procedures, and applicable laws to uphold financial data integrity and accuracy.
8. Assist in audits and execute agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, from either internal or external auditors.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with CPA preferred.
2. 5-7 years accounting experience in a senior role, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
3. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Must have strong analytical, strategic planning, and operational execution skills.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and enterprise-level accounting software packages.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
