We are looking for an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This role offers an opportunity to apply your legal expertise to a variety of real estate and property matters, including contract management, leasing, and residential development. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in real estate law and a deep understanding of the residential homebuilding industry.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents such as land acquisition agreements, development agreements, and easements.
- Provide legal counsel on leasing needs, particularly for divisional office requirements, and represent the company in lease-related matters.
- Collaborate with teams to design and implement procedures for land acquisition, development, and disposition.
- Ensure compliance with legal standards and company policies across all real estate transactions.
- Offer strategic legal advice to support residential homebuilding and development projects.
- Assist in managing legal risks and resolving disputes related to real estate operations.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant laws and regulations impacting the real estate industry.
- Partner with stakeholders to address operational and legal challenges effectively.
- Oversee the preparation and review of contracts to ensure accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in legal roles, with a focus on real estate law.
- Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts related to real estate transactions.
- In-depth knowledge of the residential homebuilding industry and associated legal considerations.
- Strong understanding of real estate leasing processes and documentation.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex legal issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with internal teams and external partners.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in good standing.
