We are in search of a Billing Clerk to join our team in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, located in SAINT CLOUD, Florida. The role involves managing customer accounts, processing billing operations, and handling customer inquiries in the utility sector. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process customer credit applications related to utilities
• Handle research and preparation of customer accounts for utility billing
• Ensure quality control from a billing perspective on all rate changes
• Manage meter inventory, including meter sets, removals, and exchanges
• Assist in resolving customer service representatives' account inquiries when necessary
• Confirm the accuracy of meter reads imported to the billing system
• Generate appropriate batches for each billing cycle as needed
• Regularly review and update any billing exceptions
• Analyze completed service orders and billing system records to ensure correct charges are applied
• Provide clear explanations to customers about monthly billing methodologies, rates, fees, account charges, and payment options
• Calculate rates and make necessary adjustments for service transfers, initial or final bills, rate changes, and all fees
• Contribute to the creation and updating of Standard Operating & Billing Procedures
• Monitor all billing functions to ensure prompt and accurate updates
• Troubleshoot any issues with AMI meter reading exceptions and create proper service orders for specific repairs needed in the field.• Proficient in handling billing procedures and familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the energy/natural resources industry.
• Experience with utilities, including the ability to understand and manage utility bills.
• Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to handle inquiries and complaints professionally and effectively.
• Ability to adapt to rate changes, with a strong understanding of the impact on billing procedures and customer communications.
• Proven ability to work accurately with numbers, with great attention to detail.
• Proficient in using billing software and other related computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of accounts and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify billing discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with customers and team members.
• High school diploma or equivalent, with previous experience in a billing clerk role being a significant advantage.
