We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Collections Specialist II in the financial services industry, located in Memphis, Tennessee. Our workplace fosters a collaborative environment where the Collections Specialist II will be primarily tasked with managing delinquent accounts, facilitating customer payments, and maintaining precise records.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate customer communication via mail, telephone, or in-person meetings to discuss overdue payments
- Accurately document and record client information
- Manage and monitor overdue accounts independently
- Leverage negotiation skills to persuade customers to settle outstanding credit accounts, damage claims, or non-payable checks
- Collaborate with the credit department to prepare customer statements if there is no response
- Utilize customer service skills to address customer inquiries and resolve issues
- Adhere to federal, state, and company policies and regulations in relation to collections
- Use company software, including Microsoft Word and other relevant collections applications, to efficiently perform tasks
- Develop repayment schedules or debt repayment plans based on customers' financial situations
- Ensure accurate and efficient processing of payments and post amounts to customer accounts
- Handle sales services or credit contracts terms review with customers
- Manage customer accounts, including monitoring for delinquencies and taking appropriate actions.
- Strong customer service skills, with a proven ability to handle difficult situations professionally
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales, with an emphasis on achieving targets
- Familiarity with standard procedures, including payment and check processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other relevant computer programs
- Excellent review skills, with the ability to scrutinize documents and accounts effectively
- Experience with time management applications such as 'About Time'
- Knowledge of merchandising, specifically within the context of collections
- Understanding of collection processes and the ability to perform ad hoc financial tasks
- Experience with claim administration and regulation compliance
- Proficiency in credit analysis and negotiation
- Familiarity with company policies and the ability to adhere to them
- Experience in managing customer accounts and dealing with delinquencies
- Previous experience as a collector would be a plus
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience in handling overdrafts and repayment plans
- Knowledge of credit department operations.
