We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Communications Specialist for a temporary, onsite position with our client. This role focuses on the development and execution of print and digital content, ensuring the institution’s messaging is cohesive, professional, and impactful across various channels. The ideal candidate is a creative writer, organized communicator, and passionate storyteller with a knack for both short and long-form content creation.
Key Responsibilities :
Content Development for Print and Digital Channels
- Write, edit, and proofread content for print and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with the institution's voice and brand guidelines
- Collaborate with various departments (e.g., marketing, academic programs, and development) to create compelling assets
Research and Feature Writing (Magazine Content)
Conduct interviews, perform research, and write in-depth articles and copy for the quarterly magazineCollaborate with the editorial team to manage the planning and production of the magazineMonthly Digital Newsletters
Write and distribute concise, engaging e-newsletters on key updates, events, achievements, and news from the seminaryPublications
Develop and update catalogs, handbooks, brochures, and other institution-specific print materialsEnsure publications are accurate, formatted appropriately, and maintain brand consistencyMedia Outreach and PR
Compose, edit, and distribute news releases using a content management system (CMS)Manage media contact lists and ensure timely communication with press outletsSocial Media Management
Write and schedule engaging social media content for platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and InstagramMonitor interaction and elevate the client’s presence across digital channelsEmail Marketing Assistance
Compose and distribute e-blasts using the seminary’s Raiser's Edge CMS (similar to MailChimp)Collaborate with email marketing stakeholders to ensure timely and effective communication for campaignsContract Length & Immediate Priority Areas :
This is a temporary, onsite position, with the potential for extension based on institutional needsInitial focus areas will include social media content creation, monthly e-newsletters, and content development for publications. Qualifications and Skills :
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field required1-3 years of experience in Communications and Marketing rolesMust have previous experience with AP StyleProven experience in content writing, editing, and publication development, preferably in an academic or nonprofit settingStrong familiarity with CMS platforms and email marketing tools like Raiser's Edge or MailChimpProficiency in managing social media channels, including creating and scheduling postsExceptional writing and editing skills with attention to detail and adherence to grammatical standardsAbility to conduct interviews and synthesize complex information into compelling contentProven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlinesFamiliarity with seminary or higher education environments is a plus
