We are offering an exciting opportunity in the heart of CHICAGO, Illinois for a Cost Accountant. This role is central to our operations, focusing on maintaining up-to-date inventory costs, processing cost calculations for new products, and working closely with both accounting and operations teams. The Cost Accountant will also play a crucial role in generating and distributing inventory-related reports, ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency.Responsibilities: • Ensure all inventory costs across U.S. locations are current and accurate.• Develop detailed cost calculations for new products to support Business Managers.• Conduct analysis on material manufacturing and purchasing variances to improve inventory costs and production processes.• Generate and distribute a range of inventory-related reports such as cycle count accuracy, budget vs. actual activity, and variance and absorption analysis.• Work with international locations to maintain standardized processes.• Uphold the one-day close process in collaboration with the Accounting team.• Handle the closure of the material inventory ledger and finish cost allocation tasks within the ERP system.• Ensure timely completion of monthly inventory reconciliations.• Analyze inventory reserves and make necessary adjustments.• Respond to external auditor requests and provide necessary support.• Lead the annual standard cost-setting process.BENEFITSBenefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Group Term Life Insurance, Optional Life Insurance, Pension, 401(k), Short/Long Term Disability Programs, as well as holiday and paid-time off benefits.• Collaborate with Operations to develop annual manufacturing plans, including establishing labor rates and determining variable and fixed overhead rates.
