Cost Accounting Manager
A well-established manufacturing organization in Southern New Jersey is seeking a skilled Cost Accounting Manager to oversee all aspects of cost accounting and financial analysis related to production operations. This role will focus on driving accuracy in cost reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and leading a small team. The right candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing finance, excellent leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of cost structures and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all cost accounting functions, including standard cost development, project/job costing, and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate financial records related to product and operational costs, ensuring timely and reliable reporting
- Supervise and develop a small team of accounting professionals, offering mentorship and performance management
- Conduct in-depth reviews of cost drivers and trends to identify areas for optimization
- Deliver financial insights and recommendations to leadership aimed at improving cost efficiency and profitability
- Manage the valuation of inventory, including work-in-process and finished goods, to support accurate financial statements
- Implement and maintain internal control procedures that support data integrity and asset protection
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting standards and applicable regulatory requirements
- Partner with supply chain and production teams to improve inventory accuracy and support process alignment
- Collaborate across departments to enhance cost reporting, budgeting accuracy, and overall financial transparency
- Respond to cost-related questions and reporting needs from various stakeholders throughout the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline required
- CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification preferred
- At least 7 years of experience in cost accounting, including 5 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Expertise in manufacturing accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting
- Strong systems skills, including Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP platforms (Oracle or comparable systems)
Salary : $125,000 - $175,000
