We are seeking a HIM Technician for a temporary position in Hanford. The HIM Technician will be responsible for preparing medical records for efficient scanning, retrieving and filing old paper records, assisting with release of information services, and handling birth certificate information. This position requires strong attention to detail and adherence to established procedures and productivity standards.Responsibilities:Retrieve and reconcile medical records from nursing units.Prepare medical records for scanning and ensure document quality.Remove difficult-to-scan documents and address missing records.Interview mothers to collect birth certificate information and enter it into the electronic system.Submit completed birth certificates to the county and process fetal death certificates.Respond to customer inquiries regarding certificates and update supervisors.Maintain and ensure scanning equipment is functioning properly.Scan documents, review images for quality, and complete scanning processes.File and pull paper records for patient care, ensuring proper tracking.Retrieve charts from permanent files and off-site storage, keeping the file room organized.Assist physicians with inquiries about chart deficiencies and documentation requirements.Conduct chart audits, assist in deficiency analysis, and resolve transcription-related issues.Support users of document imaging software and respond to assistance requests.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
