My client, a very stable international company located in Atlanta, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director for North American Operations to lead ther tax compliance, forecasting, and reporting for the US and Canada. This role will report to the Global Head of Tax and manage a small team, including a manager and junior staff. The ideal candidate will serve as a key finance partner to the business and support the Group’s global M& A initiatives related to the Americas.

My client, a very stable international company located in Atlanta, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director for North American Operations to lead ther tax compliance, forecasting, and reporting for the US and Canada. The ideal candidate will serve as a key finance partner to the business and support the Group’s global M& A initiatives related to the Americas.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and efficient compliance with the Group's Tax Policies and Tax Management Framework, including the adoption of global processes and procedures for Federal, State, and Property Taxes.
- Implement and maintain a strong, effective control environment.
- Oversee the annual tax compliance cycle, ensuring timely and accurate tax filings and payments.
- Manage in-country tax compliance activities, balancing in-sourced and outsourced tasks as needed.
- Support and drive technology enhancements to streamline and automate tax processes.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local Tax Authorities and manage domestic tax audits in alignment with Group policies.
- Oversee outsourced North America R& D tax credit claims.
- Foster relationships with global advisors to ensure consistent and coordinated tax strategies.
- Lead timely and accurate tax forecasting and reporting, including tax review of country financial statements when appropriate.
- Monitor and assess local tax regulatory developments and their impact on the business.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with key business stakeholders, ensuring alignment of local decisions with global perspectives.
- Collaborate on global M& A activities, partnering with locally based strategy teams.
- Support the assessment and monitoring of cash repatriation strategies, including evaluating Earnings & Profits (E& P) positions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field of study required.
- Master’s degree in Taxation highly preferred.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, tax, or accountancy certification.
- Qualified tax professional with 10 years of corporate tax experience, particularly in tax compliance and reporting, ideally gained from working with large organizations or the Big 4.
- Some experience within industry is preferred.
- Proven experience working with global organizations and managing tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly for managing tax audits.
- International mindset with the ability to collaborate with dispersed, multicultural, and multifunctional teams.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders within a matrix organization.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and manage an effective team.
- Experience in process change management and maintaining a robust control environment.
- Results-oriented, adaptable, and flexible, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with domestic and international M& A transactions.
