Seeking a Paralegal to join a law firm in Bluffton, South Carolina north of Savannah, GA. This role requires experience in probate and estate planning, with a focus on handling legal documentation, client communication, and estate administration processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in analyzing estate-related documents and coordinating with clients, attorneys, and court authorities.
- Communicate with clients and attorneys to provide detailed information about estate administration fees, scope of work, and expenses.
- Examine and interpret estate documents such as wills, deeds, trust agreements, death certificates, affidavits, and tax returns.
- Collaborate to identify and organize estate assets, personal property, and devisees or heirs.
- Conduct searches for documents and coordinate appraisals to establish date-of-death asset valuations.
- Draft petitions, legal documents, and correspondence to facilitate the opening and closing of estate administrations in probate court.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence and legal updates to beneficiaries regarding the progress of estate administration.
- Create property transfer documentation, including deeds and affidavits, and ensure proper filing with the Register of Deeds.
- Review estate valuations and coordinate tax-related filings, including estate tax returns and notices to taxing authorities.
- Manage expense disbursement requests and reconcile monthly estate valuations.
- Organize client appointments, distribute required documents, and maintain accurate storage and logging of records.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in probate and estate administration.
- Proficiency in probate law and estate planning processes.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing and interpreting estate-related legal documents.
- Ability to prepare and file court petitions, tax documents, and property transfer records.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate with clients, beneficiaries, and attorneys.
- Familiarity with conducting asset valuations and working with appraisals.
- Knowledge of tax filings and estate-related correspondence with taxing authorities.
- Detail-oriented approach to managing legal documentation and estate records.
