In this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of supporting attorneys on family law cases, including but not limited to, child custody, divorce, and child support. You will also be tasked with client interaction, document preparation, and administrative duties. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with a high volume of family law cases, including child custody, divorce, and child support matters
- Gather and collate case-related information for comprehensive case management
- Engage directly with clients to gather necessary information and provide support throughout the case process
- Liaise with the opposing side for cross-referencing purposes and to ensure all relevant information is obtained
- Prepare detailed documents and comprehensive case packages meticulously
- Manage and coordinate meetings effectively, ensuring all scheduling is done timely and accurately
- Perform administrative duties as required to support the efficiency of the legal team
- Utilize billing software for accurate tracking and processing of case-related expenditures (training will be provided)
- Generate and present briefings to attorneys, providing an overview of case status and progress
- Manage and maintain an accurate calendar to ensure all case-related deadlines are met
- Possession of a Paralegal certification, or equivalent relevant experience in the legal field.
- Demonstrable experience in briefing, with the ability to summarize, comment and extract essential information from legal documents.
- Strong calendar management skills, including scheduling meetings, court dates, and deadlines, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Family Law, with a deep understanding of legal proceedings, documentation, and terminologies related to this area.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court officials.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing legal documents and contracts.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable ethical integrity and dedication to uphold the law.
