What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Robert Half?
We are working with a industrial manufacturer located north of Baton Rouge looking for a Sr. Accountant. This role is responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting pursuant to accounting standards. You will be expected to work closely with various departments to enhance financial processes and aid in decision-making.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day general ledger activities, which include account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Maintain accurate financial records and perform cost structure analysis for decision-making.
• Assist in the management of accounts payable activities and provide backup support when required.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, variances, and inventory valuation, providing insights to the team.
• Manage cost accounting processes, particularly focusing on job costing and variance analysis.
• Ensure adherence to state and local sales and USE tax regulations, maintaining compliance at all times.
• Support in financial planning activities, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Contribute to improving financial processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Controller in financial analysis, providing strategic inputs for decision-making.
Requirements:
• Applicant must hold a minimum of three years of experience in a senior accounting role
• Proficiency in account reconciliation is mandatory
• Experience in balance sheet reconciliation is required
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations is essential
• Applicant should have demonstrable experience with general ledger operations
• Capability to perform and manage journal entries is a must
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Experience in managing month-end close procedures is essential
