We are offering a permanent employment opportunity for a Senior VDI Platform Engineer (Azure Virtual Desktop) based in Washington, District of Columbia. As a Senior VDI Platform Engineer (Azure Virtual Desktop), you will play a pivotal role in supporting a broad range of programs, from planning and designing various network components to evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior VDI Platform Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to join a high-profile program. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment to deliver secure and high-performance virtual desktop solutions.

This is an onsite position located in the Washington, D.C. area, where you will collaborate with cloud engineers, security teams, and various business units to align the VDI platform with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and architect Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including the selection of Azure resources, virtual machines, storage, and network configurations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to customize VDI solutions that meet user requirements while aligning with organizational policies and security standards.
• Optimize VDI infrastructure for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and reliability using Azure tools.
• Manage implementation and configuration of Azure Virtual Desktop solutions, including provisioning virtual desktops and hosting applications.
• Establish and implement Group Policies, security settings, and user profiles to support organizational standards.
• Deploy and manage multi-session Windows 10/11 virtual desktops, app delivery configurations, and host pools.
• Monitor system health, performance, and usage using tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, identifying areas for improvement.
• Utilize Azure Active Directory (AAD) with conditional access for enhanced security.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to virtual desktop performance, access, and app delivery, and provide tier-3 support.
• Automate routine VDI management tasks, such as scaling and patching, using PowerShell and Azure Automation.
• Document system architecture, configurations, troubleshooting guides, and processes for day-to-day management and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed on the latest Azure Virtual Desktop features and best practices, incorporating advancements to improve the VDI platform.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

• 5 years of experience in VDI technologies, cloud platforms, and desktop virtualization.
• Minimum of 3 years specializing inAzure Virtual Desktop (AVD)or similar cloud-based VDI platforms.
• Expertise in AVD host pools, app virtualization, and multi-session Windows.
• Proficiency in Azure services, including Azure Networking, Azure Storage, and monitoring tools.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 multi-session environments and Windows Server.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation.
• Knowledge ofMicrosoft Endpoint Manager (Intune),Group Policies, and VDI project management.
• Familiarity with remote desktop services (RDS), Citrix, or related desktop virtualization solutions.
• Deep understanding of security protocols, Azure conditional access policies, and VDI security best practices.

Desired Skills:

• Relevant certifications, such asMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect ExpertorAzure Administrator Associate.
• Experience withCitrix Virtual Apps and DesktopsorVMware Horizon.
• Familiarity withDevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and integration with VDI environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions and containerized applications.
