We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The role involves handling key accounting functions in the federal contracting industry. The individual will be an integral part of our team, working in a location that focuses on exceptional service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily accounting operations, encompassing accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Ensuring adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Conducting closing processes at the end of the month and year, which includes account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Coordinating with external auditors to guarantee successful audit outcomes and compliance reviews.
- Analyzing project cost data to ensure accurate reporting and managing indirect rate structures.
- Handling contract billing, including Time & Materials (T& M), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), and Firm Fixed Price (FFP) agreements.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to entry level members of the accounting team.
- Implementing process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
- Preparing incurred cost submissions (ICS), budgets, forecasts, and conducting variance analysis related to federal contracts.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Accounting field
- Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Strong experience with Bank Reconciliations
- Proficient with Month End Close procedures
- Demonstrated expertise with Deltek Costpoint
- Experience with Paychex Payroll is a must
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Evidence of continuous learning and skill development.
