What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Robert Half?
Large Non-Profit Staff Accountant is needed for a local organization in Newark. This is a newly created role. Ideal candidate will have 3 years of general staff accountant experience. Preference is out of a Non-Profit or someone who has a passion for Non-Profit organizations.
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and fiscal reporting.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Assist with financial statement preparation.
- Perform financial analysis to support organizational decision-making and sustainability.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable tax filings (e.g., Form 990).
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to align financial operations with the organization’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or CPA a plus).
- 3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization (non-profit experience is a huge plus but not required).
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or similar systems).
- Experience with non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency in financial regulations, GAAP, and general accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a mission-driven mindset.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
