Position Overview:
A leading government contractor is seeking a System Administrator to support a prominent program within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). This role is focused on providing system administration expertise for both Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as enterprise-level storage environments in support of the DOJ Antitrust Division, which plays a critical role in enforcing federal antitrust laws and promoting fair competition. The selected candidate will work onsite in Washington, DC, and collaborate closely with the IT operations team to ensure infrastructure stability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot server hardware, operating systems, and applications.
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patches for both Windows and Linux systems.
- Monitor system performance and ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain enterprise-level storage systems (SAN, NAS, etc.) to ensure efficient data management, access, and backups.
- Configure and manage storage volumes, RAID arrays, and LUNs for optimal performance and redundancy.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus systems, and access controls.
- Manage user access controls, permissions, and authentication mechanisms on both Windows and Linux systems.
- Assist with backup processes and disaster recovery planning to mitigate data loss.
- Continuously monitor system health and performance using appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Optimize infrastructure to maximize uptime and responsiveness.
- Document technical procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in system administration, specifically with Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server (2016, 2019, or newer) and Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat).
- Proficiency in managing enterprise storage solutions such as SAN, NAS, and RAID.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Familiarity with Linux shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus.
- Experience with system monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong grasp of system security best practices, including firewalls and data encryption.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with hybrid cloud environments or containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Relevant certification in Linux Administration (e.g., Linux Foundation Certified SysAdmin, Red Hat Certified System Administrator).
- Certification in Windows Server administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals).
