The Branch Office Principal will be responsible for overseeing the leadership, management, business development, and execution of operations within the office. This office currently provides design and engineering services for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural, as well as Commissioning services across various sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, transportation, infrastructure, multi-family, travel & leisure, and civic projects.

The ideal candidate will act as a "market leader" for the San Antonio office, responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the office, including the expansion of both size and revenue.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Leadership and Management of the San Antonio Office:
- Serve as the market leader for the San Antonio office, overseeing growth in staff numbers
- Lead, manage, and mentor the San Antonio office team.
- Manage project costs and profitability for the office.
- Act as a subject matter expert in MEP design and management processes, training others as needed.
- Lead efforts to update and refine MEP design processes, integrating new technologies.
- Assist in the development of tools and templates for the MEP Department.
Business Development and Client Relations:
- Drive revenue growth for the San Antonio office.
- Support in writing Request for Qualifications (RFQs) and participate in project interviews as necessary.
- Assist in general business development efforts, including establishing new client relationships and nurturing existing ones.
- Generate leads to secure MEP design, structural design, and commissioning work.
- Collaborate with other department leaders (Marketing, MEP, Structural, CxA) to foster business development.
Managing Engineer Role:
- Collaborate with Engineering Project Managers, owners, design teams, and construction partners to review projects, troubleshoot, and provide QA/QC services as needed.
- Use industry knowledge to resolve maintenance and system issues.
- Provide senior leadership in collaboration with project managers and team members (internally and externally) to ensure project success.
- Assist clients in developing project requirements.
- Offer leadership and expertise to Project Engineers with MEP specifications.
- Review and verify project MEP designs and QA/QC procedures step-by-step.
- Conduct site visits for MEP job observations and issue observation reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Mechanical (HVAC) or Electrical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong foundation in MEP engineering design.
- Expertise in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Proven experience in business development and proposal creation.
- Proficient in client-facing activities, building relationships, and managing client expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and general computer applications.
- Experience with Revu Bluebeam.
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP system design, including controls and instrumentation (design and implementation).
- Familiarity with engineering submittal reviews and the RFI process.
- Knowledge of MEP construction standards and guidelines.
- Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD and Revit.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position with occasional travel required within Texas.
Physical Requirements:
This role will involve both office and site work for MEP design and observation tasks. Candidates must be physically active and mobile on job sites, capable of climbing ladders/stairs and lifting or carrying loads over 20 lbs. Extended periods of time (8-10 hours) spent on job sites are required.
