General Description :
General operation of the production machines such as CNC, VMC, and SWISS. Responsible for inspection during production to maintain quality and workmanship.
Responsibilities : (50% Operating, 40% Inspecting, 10% Other)
- Use micrometers, calipers, pin gages, comparator and various other inspection equipment appropriately
- Turn on machine. Inspect for obvious problems. Inspect first part off at startup of machine.
- Load material into fixture or work holding as required, making sure all chips have been cleaned out of clamping areas before tightly securing.
- Operate machine watching and listening for possible problems. (I.e. Loud noises, unusual sounds, broken or worn tooling etc.)
- Ability to understand and modify tool offsets
- Inspect and replace broken / worn tooling. Ability to touch off newly installed tooling
- Ability to meet or exceed production rates stated on work order
- Read, understand information in workmanship standards and part drawings
- Fill out appropriate sections of work order
- Handle, store, use micrometers, calipers, gages appropriately
- Perform and document inspection procedures when appropriate (SPC charts, work orders, move tickets)
- Identify nonconforming product or material
- Wash tools and return to storage area
- Complete the preventative maintenance check list
- Know and follow safety standards
- Move parts to next operation
- Remove scrap
- Help with set-up operations
- Other duties as required

Job Qualification Requirements :
High school graduate or equivalent; reading, basic math, blueprint reading
Training Period : 3 months to a year
CNC Lathes, Mills, and Swiss Machines, Manual Lathe and Mill operation, measuring equipment, surface and bench grinders, Drill press, working with hands.
Written and verbal work instructions, workmanship standards book (engineer drawings), quality control documentation (work orders, move tickets), daily notes.
