What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Estimator position at Roberts Electrical Contracting?
Overview of Position:
As a low voltage estimator, you will work closely with other electrical estimators to complete assigned bids and put together project proposals with accurate exclusions, inclusions, and pricing. The position is responsible for surveying, estimating, and laying out fire alarm and low voltage systems within projects. The bids you will be doing are multifamily and larger commercial projects that include fire alarm, area of refuge, data, voice, catv, cctv, card access, etc. As a low voltage estimator you will utilize estimating check lists, obtain current and accurate pricing, craft a bill of materials, and intelligently estimate labor hours tied to a work break down structure of the project inside our estimating software. This position is an in-office position only and remote options are not available. This position will report directly to the low voltage department manager.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze blueprints/ drawings.
- Analyze and understand code requirements for fire alarm systems.
- Determine labor and material needs accurately.
- Organize and present complete bids in a timely manner.
- Prepare necessary documentation for awarded contracts.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Check company email daily and respond in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 year experience as an Estimator.
- Must be able to read Blueprints and estimate projects based on drawings.
- Experience using the Accubid or estimating software.
- Knowledge of NFPA & IBC code requirements. For fire alarm systems & access control
- Understanding of Microsoft Office products, Bluebeam.
- Strong communication skills and team oriented.
- Dependable, efficient with the ability to follow through with all tasks assigned.
