POSITION SUMMARY:
The accounting manager plays a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing general ledger, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for properties. They supervise accounting staff, overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month end closings. Additionally, ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and helping prepare financial statements. They manage the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process and train new accounting team members. With a focus on implementing best practices and improving efficiencies, this position requires a candidate with a positive attitude, flexibility, and adaptability to navigate the dynamic challenges of property accounting. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
- Adhere to the Core Values Platform and Policies and Procedures Manual, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures to minimize financial risks.
- Ensure accurate and complete month-end closing by established deadlines and standards to maintain financial integrity.
- Record weekly cash transactions, monthly revenue transactions from reservation system, monthly recurring, non-recurring journal entries and accruals to prepare financial statements.
- Record sales transactions, sales tax liabilities, and new inventory purchases monthly.
- Monitor monthly recurring charges and rent roll reports maintained by property managers to present accurate monthly financial statements.
- Communicate any discrepancies identified to property managers for correction.
- Post Gross Potential Rent (GPR), deferred revenue, and management fees after all revenue and summary rent roll reports reviewed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with property managers and sales teams to maintain completeness of financial records.
- Record quarterly true up for allowance for doubtful accounts, to management fees, and to COGS.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and post correcting entries to maintain accurate and complete financial records.
- Conduct monthly financial statement reviews, prepare reports for field staff and perform profit and loss variance analysis. Collaborate with teams to investigate discrepancies, post accruals, and research missing invoices to maintain financial integrity.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor, prepare, and maintain monthly property tax schedules, insurance schedules and interest expense schedules for assigned properties.
- Monitor and maintain intercompany reconciliation monthly.
- Monitor and maintain tax and insurance escrow accounts for assigned properties.
- Provide support to field staff with invoice coding and assist senior staff and Controller as needed.
- Assist in creating benchmarks and metrics to measure the company’s financial performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in production of periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist in budget preparation, review, and finalization, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Assist in hiring and training of new property accounting personnel, identifying training needs, and developing training programs.
- Asist with daily activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, analysis, and cost accounting activities.
- Supervise and support property accountants and accounting staff.
Requirements

- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving financial regulations, accounting standards, and business requirements while maintaining high standards of performance and efficiency.
- Timeliness: Consistently meets deadlines, ensuring month-end close processes are completed by day 10, property PL review meetings by day 15, and budget templates and uploads are completed according to defined timelines.
- Chart of Accounts Management: Proficient in maintaining and reconciling chart of accounts between multiple entities, ensuring consistency and accuracy in sub-ledgers and financial reporting.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Five or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Proficient in coordinating and organizing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Thorough understanding of reporting and financial systems.
- Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
- Possession of an advanced degree or CPA certification is preferred.

- Manual dexterity for handling paperwork and using office equipment.
- Clear vision and hearing for reviewing documents and communicating effectively.
