What you will achieve in this role:
As a Senior Property Facultative Underwriter, you will play a key role in the underwriting team, focusing on property facultative reinsurance. Reporting to senior leadership, you will:
- Underwrite facultative certificate and program business, with an emphasis on direct placements.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities from prospective clients.
- Build and strengthen relationships with underwriting partners through extensive marketing.
- Travel domestically up to 30% for marketing and audits.
- Support the underwriting team in reviewing and processing new and renewal business submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and underwrite facultative reinsurance risks, ensuring alignment with company guidelines.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and industry stakeholders.
- Conduct market research to identify business development opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize underwriting strategies.
- Manage a high volume of submissions efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Utilize catastrophe modeling platforms (RMS, AIR) to analyze exposure and risk.
What you must bring to this role:
- 5 years of experience in property facultative reinsurance underwriting.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a collaborative team setting.
- Strong understanding of primary insurance underwriting, including rate adequacy and loss analysis.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience working in a paperless environment.
- CPCU or other relevant industry certifications preferred.
