Description
The Assistant Director of Learning Resource Services is responsible for supporting the Director of Learning Resource Services in the development, organization, administration and supervision of library and learning resource service activities. This position will also provide support to the College's professional faculty, staff, students, and public patrons.
Detailed Work Activities
Essential Duties
- Serving as the Assistant Director of Learning Resource Services of Robeson Community College and its affiliated Learning Resource Services.
- Supporting the Director of Learning Resource Services in administering effective reference services by utilizing print and electronic resources.
- Utilizing Evergreen software to support library functions.
- Fostering meaningful relationships with internal and external partners such as Lumberton Correctional Institute, Public Schools of Robeson County, etc. to effectively carry out the purpose of the Learning Resource Services.
- Assisting the community college and other approved entities with research, resources and support services, as requested.
- Conducting orientation tours and providing bibliographic instruction.
- Pursuing an active and ongoing program of professional development and research appropriate to the Assistant Director of Learning Resource Services.
- Assisting with circulation desk rotation as scheduled.
- Providing quality customer service and reference assistance to faculty, staff, students, and other patrons in the use of library technology and equipment (printers, scanners, reservation system, learning resources, OPAC, library databases, etc.).
- Participating in the ongoing process of archiving the college's history and maintaining all physical and digital materials.
- Supervising the management of the library's physical collection by checking in new books, covering them (as needed), cataloging them, creating / attaching spine labels, and shelving them.
- Working with the NCCCE Consortium for complex and original cataloging.
- Coordinating and managing all functions related to the interlibrary loan process.
- Collaborating with the IT Department to ensure that library computers, laptops, and other public equipment (scanners, printers, etc.) function as needed.
- Assisting with managing room reservations in the LibCal system.
- Serving as the primary liaison to handle conflict resolutions and other communication-related matters with the production and printing of College IDs.
- Creating book displays, as needed, to coincide with national, state, or local celebrations.
- Collaborating with the Director of Learning Resource Services to select and de-select library resources and materials in assigned academic disciplines and Library of Congress call number sections.
- Participating in the institutional planning process, as requested by the Director of Learning Resource Services, including preparing and providing usage statistics and other reports, as requested.
- Developing and improving avenues of communications between the library and the RCC faculty and staff.
- Tracking all book sale and library fees collected, and then conveying the monies to the Business Office, as needed.
- Representing the College professionally and handling all Learning Resource Services affairs confidentially.
- Supervising tutorial services and staff.
- Overseeing the recruitment, training, and scheduling of all academic tutors.
- Developing and implementing tutoring policies and procedures.
- Monitoring and assessing tutoring program effectiveness.
- Coordinating with faculty to identify and address student tutoring needs.
- Managing tutorial services budget and resources.
- Maintaining the integrity of the College and its related foundations.

Qualifications
Education
Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) - American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a librarian at an academic library is required.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to demonstrate ability to research, organize, and write a long-range plan and related Learning Resource Services documents.
