POSITION: Payroll Clerk (12 months yearly)
SALARY: District Salary Schedule – (Grade 65 - $3,194.83 monthly – Starting Salary)

GENERAL DUTIES:
Responsible for the production of accurate payroll checks and the collections/maintenance of accurate payroll information for all of the employees at the assigned schools to the position. The performance of these duties require detailed knowledge of current payroll laws and the ability to review large volumes of detailed information for accuracy and completeness with a minimum of errors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-High school diploma or the equivalent.
-An associate degree in business administration or accounting preferred.
-One or more years of experience in accounts payable preferred.
-Any combination of education and/or experience that would satisfy the minimum requirements.
-Ability to work with people; strong interpersonal skills.
-Willingness to work as a part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Coordinate the payroll process for the assigned schools and departments.
-Coordinate the collections of attendance data from schools and office locations.
-Answer questions from school office staff about payroll procedures.
-Verify accuracy of data entered by school staff before payroll is run.
-Key in changes to payroll deductions as necessary.
-Process and balance various monthly reports for payroll deductions.
-Coordinate garnishments and notify employees.
-Set up new employee records and verify all salary rates along with deductions.
-Monitor leave balance information, service dates, longevity information, and escrow balance for assigned schools.
-Assist with the distribution of payroll checks.
-Answer telephone inquiries from all staff concerning payroll problems and concerns.
-Provide necessary paperwork for external auditors.
-Review and process bus payroll.
-Submit month end reports and vendor payments as required.
-Update annual salary scale changes.
-Process all required payroll runs as needed.
-Assist in other areas of the Finance Department when called upon to do so,
-Any additional duties requested by the Finance Officer.
