Example of Duties:
Under general supervision, performs unskilled to semi-skilled specialized work for the County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Work involves maintenance and construction of all County parks and recreational buildings, grounds, and equipment in Parks & Recreation. Road Signs work involves installing and repairing private and State road signs, so the 911 units will have a sure sense of direction. Employee is required to perform manual labor for extended periods of time possibly in adverse weather and working conditions. Employee must exercise initiative and some independent judgment in completing assigned tasks. Employee must also exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in working in contact with customers and the general public. Reports to Parks & Recreation Director.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma and 3 years of experience in ground maintenance; or any combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
- Must acquire NC Division of Prisons certification and Custodial Agent certification within six (6) months of employment.
- Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
