GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Pharmacist and is responsible for the preparation of the prescription by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and sometimes mixing the medication. Prepares the prescription labels, selects the type of prescription container, and affixes the prescription auxiliary labels to the container. Computes and determines the price and files the prescriptions, which must be checked by a Registered Pharmacist before it is dispensed to the patient.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets and receives customers and provide assistance by explaining and clarifying prescriptions, answer patient questions, and troubleshoot/resolve them promptly.
- Process new and refill prescriptions – receive written prescriptions or requests from patients and prescriptions sent electronically from doctors’ office.
- Assisting in streaming communications with patient, insurance companies, pharmacist, nurses, lab, and other healthcare related parties.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Assist the Pharmacist in providing and dispensing medication to patients.
- Consult the Pharmacist and refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to the pharmacist.
- Perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets, and labeling bottles.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
- Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
- Maintains the confidentiality of Robeson Health Care Corporation and the patients/clients that the corporation serves.
- Maintains appropriate HIPPA guidelines and JCAHO readiness.
- Performs as part of a team to transitions as necessary to assume duties as required by the Robeson Health Care Corporation to achieve the goal of the providing primary and preventive health care services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification as Pharmacy Technician by the state of North Carolina
- A combination of formal training and/or experience to carry out the functions of this position independently.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $20.16 per hour
