We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Group Leader for our Assembly Department at our Zelienople, PA facility. As an Assembly Group Leader at Robinson Fans, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of assembly including painting, packing and shipping, receiving, yard crane operation and inspection. You will play an important role in guiding and managing your team to achieve organizational goals. You will be responsible for ensuring the team’s success, fostering collaboration, and maintaining a high level of productivity. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to drive results. This position reports to the General Manager.
What you’ll do
  • Practice safety in all aspects of the job and participate in safety improvement programs
  • Understand the Principles of Lean Manufacturing (the 5S System should be followed in work areas)
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and oversee your team, providing direction, support, and guidance to ensure the successful completion of projects and tasks.
    • Rotate work among all Assemblers to ensure their exposure to all the requirements of their position.
    • Inspect work of all assigned personnel at various stages and on completion of their projects.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Coordinate team efforts to meet project objectives, including assigned tasks, setting deadlines and monitoring progress.
    • Develop proper methods and procedures for all operations in the Assembly area to ensure efficient activities and maximum use of materials and supplies while meeting the individual order specifications.
    • Check drawings, specifications, and related information for assembly requirements. Plan, detail, schedule and assign Assembly area work to the appropriate individuals; determine proper work methods and direct or perform tests based on drawings and sketches.
    • Direct and maintain the flow of work to and from each assigned individual thus ensuring the on-time performance of the work required.
    • Report to the Shop Supervisor or General Manager any situation that may affect schedule movement and reasoning such as faulty equipment or materials.
  • Performance:
    • Conduct 30-day, 60-day, 90-day, and semi-annual performance evaluations for team members, providing praise, constructive feedback, and areas of improvement if necessary.
    • Give feedback to assigned employees in real time when they fail to meet safety, quality, time or other production requirements. Discuss any necessary disciplinary actions with the Shop Supervisor, General Manager or Human Resources and provide written documentation with supporting evidence.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address any conflicts and/or issues that arise within the team promptly, professionally and by promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Goal Setting: Collaborate with upper management to set clear team goals and objectives that align with the company’s mission and values.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and provide coaching and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage resources efficiently. Continuously seek ways to eliminate waste.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that your team outputs meet quality standards.
Qualifications:
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, engage and motivate a team towards achieving a common goal.
  • Communication: Strong listening skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills to convey ideas, instructions, and feedback clearly and effectively.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with a track record of successful team leadership.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues and to make informed decisions.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to plan execute and monitor projects.
  • Organization skills: Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Depending on the nature of the team, specific technical skills or knowledge related to the field may be required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Occasionally/Frequently required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds/ up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with various hand and power tools, laser aligning equipment, balancing equipment, burning torch, hand-welding unit, measuring instruments, personal computer, etc.
