Position Overview:
As an Area Manager, you will play a pivotal role in meeting our customers’ production needs while maintaining a safe, productive, and efficient work environment. You will manage a team of 40 employees, working closely with Operations Managers, Business Center Managers, Safety Managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team to meet and exceed production goals while upholding the highest standards of safety and performance.
- Production Management: Oversee the entire production process, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Team Coordination: Define job routines, set clear expectations, and provide guidance to team members to ensure they succeed in their roles.
- Scheduling & Labor Management: Coordinate labor, schedules, and production efforts to meet customer requirements and improve overall team performance.
- Safety Oversight: Maintain a safe working environment by providing necessary training and ensuring all safety protocols are consistently followed.
- Performance & Accountability: Conduct performance reviews, manage disciplinary actions when necessary, and address any issues proactively to maintain high morale and productivity.
- Reporting: Monitor and report on production, attendance, and safety performance daily to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with Senior Management, HR, and the customer to ensure alignment with production needs.
- Training & Development: Participate in training sessions and help develop new team members to enhance their skills.
- Inspections & Audits: Perform daily inspections and audits, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience, ideally in a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment, managing hourly employees.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to motivate and manage a diverse team under pressure.
- Tech Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
- Independent Worker: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and be detail-oriented.
- Forklift Experience: Preferred experience with sit-down forklifts in a warehouse/production environment (1 year).
- Flexibility: Flexible and adaptable with the ability to take direction from senior management and implement changes effectively.
- Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to the plant (no tolerance for transportation issues).
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, Southern Swing Shift (both day and night), with some weekends and overtime as needed. S
- Background Check & Drug Test: Must be able to pass a Federal Background Check and Drug Test.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 90% of the workday) on concrete floors and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and reaching.
- PPE Requirements: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
