What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spay and Neuter Veterinary Technician position at Robinson's Rescue Spay/Neuter?

We have a licensed Veterinarian and RVT on staff to help grow your skills. We offer competitive pay and a rewarding job! Our non-profit facility provides spay neuter services at a low cost or free for those that qualify. We are providing access to spay and neuter surgeries for all dogs and cats in need so we can help save lives through prevention. We are looking for the right candidate to join our team. Room for personal growth. Must be dependable and knowledgeable. Candidates for this position must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Candidate must also be self-motivated, a team player, and able to multitask.
Previous experience working as a technician and working in a busy surgery environment are a big plus.
Skills: Must be able to learn characteristics of animal behavior, i.e. identifying fearful and aggressive behavior. Must be able to use appropriate safety equipment for handling fractious or feral animals. Be able to identify own limitations and be willing to monitor anesthesia, with a clear idea of abnormal conditions. Must become proficient at animal restraint techniques for various procedures. Must be able to work standing for 9 hours. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs or more repeatedly throughout the workday with assistance. Must be able to bend or kneel repeatedly.
Primary function- Assist Surgeon
- Assist during Patient Check In Process
- Examine animal’s overall health
- Weigh each animal and record
- Set up pack stations and the rest of surgery room
- Sedate and Prep animals for Surgery
- IV injection of anesthesia
- Monitor animal’s vital signs
- Intubation of patient
- Shave animal appropriately
- Properly connect to anesthesia machine
- Properly scrub animal and open pack
- Review Paperwork to Ensure All Services are Provided
- Assist in Counseling Client’s during Checkout Process
- Clean and Organize Clinic
