WHY CRITICAL HARMS?

As a Principal ML Engineer on Critical Harms, you'll build systems to identify and address some of the highest-risk and most critical problems we face, including rare events with sparse data such as predatory behavior, child endangerment, extremism, fraud. Safety and Civility is Roblox's #1 priority, and our mission is to protect our community.

You Will:

• Build systems to detect and address problematic behavior on Roblox. You will work on building and serving ML models to detect unsafe behavior, content and communication at scale.
• Define new investigation tool and lead generation model to help our investigation team, keep up to date with new threat on the platform
• Help define the team's roadmap and long-term strategy towards keeping content and features on Roblox safe.
• Shape how the next generation of internet users interacts safely in the metaverse

You Have:

• 8 years of experience in software development
• 5 years of experience building and shipping products to production.
• 5 years of experience identifying and driving solutions to difficult problems that span multiple teams and require deep technical expertise.
• 5 years of demonstrated ability developing systems at scale.
• Proven experience shipping ML models in production.
• 5 years experience using big data query/processing languages and tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark and Airflow
• Graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or other technical field is a plus

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$289,460-$338,270 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
