What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher position at ROBS?
River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our ROBS team as a Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher beginning August 2025.
This teacher will be responsible for two courses in our middle school ELA program. A typical teaching load is five sections and two preparations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating young people, developing curriculum, and working in a collaborative atmosphere.
This position reports to the Head of Middle School. All middle school faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty.

Responsibilities:
- Teach five sections of middle school English/Language Arts, including one or two preparations. - This specific position requires an emphasis on Honors Language Arts.
- Serve as an advisor to approximately ten to twelve students
- Sponsor a middle school activity or club
- Model and guide students in Christ-like values and character development
- Employ current pedagogies, including mind, brain, and education science research-informed strategies
- Deliver innovative curriculum that integrates technology intentionally and appropriately
- Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for adults and students alike
- Participate collaboratively in grade-level, departmental, divisional, and all-school teams
- Practice differentiated instructional strategies
- Develop and practice cultural competence in teaching and teamwork
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and self-reflection
- Motivate and engage students
- Delight in teaching children in middle school years
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 hours of English or a Humanities-related degree
- Teaching certification for in English Language Arts
- A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
- Successful completion of reference and background checks
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years' full-time teaching experience preferred
