What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Orchestra Teacher Long-Term Substitute position at ROBS?
River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a Long-term Substitute Orchestra Teacher for the Fall of 2025.
A successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of how to teach music, to organize and manage a classroom, and to motivate and engage students. This teacher must be able to communicate effectively with parents, other teachers, and administrators, both in person and in writing. He/she needs to be organized and have the ability to stay on top of an array of fast-moving, complex activities and interactions.
We are looking for a candidate who exhibits enthusiasm, energy, initiative and the capacity for reflection and lifelong learning. Working as a team member and enjoying teaching middle school students are essential. This teacher will be supported by a Director of Fine Arts, the Middle School Division Head, and the Associate Head of School for Academics.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the overall operation of an instrumental music program
- Be adept in string instrument pedagogy
- Rehearse and direct middle school instrumental performers, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced orchestras, soloists, and ensembles
- Possess strong instructional, communication, public relations, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Control storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials
- Design and implement plans for orchestra program and prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual students’ differences, using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning needs of students.

Qualifications:
- A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
- A bachelor's degree
- Three years of successful teaching and directing an orchestra program preferred
- Successful completion of background checks and verification
