Rochambeau, The French International School (“Rochambeau”), located in Bethesda, MD, is an independent and coeducational day school, offering a unique combination of the French curriculum and a high-quality English program to approximately 1,250 students from Preschool (2-year-old) through 12th grade. THE POSITION
The Development and Events Specialist is a role that supports the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives and events, constituent and volunteer relations. The Specialist also supports communications, including website content, newsletters, and social media, as they relate to the fundraising campaigns and events. The Specialist communicates regularly with faculty and administrators to carry out work; and may regularly interface with external constituents as a representative of the school in an outreach capacity. The Development and Events Specialist reports to the Marketing & Communications Manager. Annual salary range for this non-exempt and non-CBA role is $35,000 - $37,500.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities
- Annual and Capital Giving: participate in developing campaign materials, tracking and reporting of campaign results, and stewardship of donors and volunteers. This includes activities like thanking them for their contributions, keeping them informed about how their contribution is making an impact, and making them feel valued and appreciated.
- Events: provide support for major events, including Gala action, International Food Festival, Spring Fair, 70th anniversary, and others, including day-of operations. Provide administrative and logistical support for additional special events of the school (includes donor and volunteer events, alumni events and other community events.
- Data and Database management: assist is managing donor information, donor record keeping, gift entry and processing, acknowledgement, reporting and reconciliations. Assist in identifying and implementing a new donor tracking tool.
- Donor/Prospect research: Support fundraising efforts by identifying, researching, rating and providing detailed profiles on prospective constituents using online databases and other sources of information. Research new and existing donors and prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation through review and strategic analysis of media, financial documents, databases, online wealth indicating information systems and other resources.
- Communication: Assist with writing and editing content for school communications, including social media, website, newsletters, and event promotional materials.
- Administrative tasks: Provide general administrative support with mailings, filing, updating constituent records, scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
- Must be available and willing to work flexible hours and respond promptly and professionally to requests and assigned tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least three-five years of experience in fundraising, events, and or external relations.
- Excellent sense of customer service, experience in volunteer management.
- Ability to be a creative thinker as well as a practical implementer.
- Excellent organization and project management skills; attention to detail; demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of work with shifting priorities and meet short- and long-term deadlines.
- Outstanding organizational skills and strong writing and visual communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships across diverse constituencies (colleagues, volunteers, vendors, and donors)
- Optimistic attitude, positive spirit, proactive approach, and professional demeanor
- High degree of integrity, discretion, flexibility and trustworthiness.
- CMS experience (experience with Finalsite or another school website platform highly desired); Email marketing program experience such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, or a similar platform.
- Advanced computer skills in a variety of Windows-based computer programs and technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google platforms.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, iMovie, InDesign, or Publisher is a plus.
- Knowledge of video editing software; the ability to edit short, compelling films is a plus
- Experience working in an independent school or college/university setting a plus
- Preference: Ideally bilingual English and French.
- Availability to work occasional evening and weekend events.
