Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Nurse is a mid-level healthcare provider who works collaboratively with the designated physician and is responsible for comprehensive care to a specific group of patients. The Advanced Practice Nurse educates patients and their families in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems/complications, maintain current health, as well as diagnose and manage acute or chronic problems. The Advanced Practice Nurse seeks opportunities for professional growth through participation in continuing education and staff development. Responsibilities must be accomplished within the guidelines of the institution as developed in collaboration with the physician and administrators.

Education:
  • Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority in Illinois AND
  • Active board certification as NP in area of clinical practice.

Skills:
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with physicians, other health professionals and health related agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • The ability and willingness to stay up to date on advancements, innovations, and developments in the field.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions.
  • Strong aptitude for calculating correct medicine doses.
  • Ability to show empathy and compassion.

Physical Demands:
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods of time, push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop, and stretch.
  • Have full range of body motion and ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate keyboard, telephone, fax machine, and other equipment as needed.
  • Have normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports; specific vision requirements including close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.

Working Conditions:
  • The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment.
  • The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public on a regular basis.
  • The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, cleaning fluids, and other conditions common to the healthcare environment.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients
  • Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Annual Requirements:
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Completes CE’s per state of Illinois licensure requirements.
  • Complete annual Employee Health requirements.
