POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinic Nurse, under the supervision of the Outpatient Services Manager is responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality patient care management. He/She shall perform nursing functions utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. He/She shall perform nursing functions in accordance with the policies, procedures, and objectives of the Nursing Department. Responsibilities encompass compliance with the Joint Commission standards, CMS, OSHA, IDPH and scope of practice.
The Clinic Medical Assistant is responsible for assigned clerical duties and delegated clinical duties including obtaining vital signs, medication administration, CLIA waived testing, assisting with procedures, and documenting findings in patients’ medical records. Communicates effectively with staff, providers, patients and families.

Education
- Must be a graduate of a state approved School of Nursing
- Must have current Illinois license or certificate
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
Licensure/Certification
- Credentialed by one of the following: American Association of Medical assistants as a Certified Medical Assistant, National Health Career Association as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, and National Center for Competency Testing as a National Certified Medical Assistant.
- Current BLS Certification.
Experience
- Current BLS certification. ACLS and PALS preferred.
- Must show competency of those skills designated by the Manager of Outpatient Services
- Must be in good physical and mental health, and able to work under pressure.
- Must have good teaching and communication skills.
- The ability to operate designated computer equipment and clinic instruments.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Requires long periods of standing at times.
- Requires quick movement, agility and fast response time.
- Requires direct patient contact with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Frequent lifting and/or handling of light weight items. Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to perform CPR – a strenuous activity.
