Rochester Community and Technical College seeks a creative and collaborative librarian to join our library team to provide high quality services and support to our campus community. This is a full-time on campus faculty position. This position will manage the library’s print and electronic acquisitions and cataloging needs, and oversee the library’s systems and discovery platforms. Librarians share reference, instruction, collection development, and other responsibilities. The library team works together to develop and execute work plans, policies, and procedures. As a faculty member, other professional responsibilities include department or committee work, student assessment, and professional development.
Duties Include:
This position manages the library’s electronic resources and discovery systems to ensure reliable and efficient access to the Library’s collections, and resources.
- Manage access, problem resolution, assessment, and discovery of the library’s technologies.
- Ensure that the library’s website is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
- Oversee the library’s LibApps modules such as LibGuides.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the library’s electronic resources including trials, acquisition, licensing, troubleshooting, and assessment.
- Manage the acquisition, renewal, and cataloging of print and other resources.
- Develop and maintain vendor relations.
- Manage the library’s budget.
- Manage administrative access to various vendor platforms.
- Manage authentication via the EZProxy system.
- Identify and provide training within the library on various library systems. Stay current with new and emerging technologies and how they might impact the library.
- Serve as the primary contact with campus departments and vendors concerning library technologies.
- Provide reference services in-person or via technology, and by appointment. May work one evening until 7pm during the academic year.
- Participate in collection development for selected programs including outreach and research support.
- Participate in library instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree by the time of employment.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with library acquisitions, including creating purchase orders, receiving invoices, and managing a budget. Experience maintaining vendor relationships and negotiating contract terms. Experience working with financial software Workday Finance and the acquisitions module in the ExLibris Alma system.
- Experience setting up electronic resources in the ExLibris Alma system.
- Experience cataloging in OCLC Connexion and in the ExLibris Alma system.
- Experience working with the Ex Libris Primo discovery interface.
- Experience working with Springshare’s LibGuides, or other LibApps modules.
- Experience with the EZProxy system.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience, or knowledge of, research assistance in-person and via other technologies.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience working in, or knowledge of, academic libraries.
- Experience fostering partnerships and collaboration across departments or organizational units.
- Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and professional development in librarianship.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Flexibility and self-motivation. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a contributing team member.
- Strong service orientation with an enthusiasm for delivering high-quality and timely service.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
Salary is dependent on education and experience, in accordance with the Minnesota State College Faculty [MSCF] bargaining agreement available on the Minnesota State website.
