Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the Conflict of Interest process for researchers including review of all project COIs, drafting of management plans or addressing conflict issues associated with individuals conducting externally sponsored research, and entering results into the grants and COI systems of RIT, and potentially sponsors.
- Work with the leadership of OVPR, Sponsored Research Services, Sponsored Programs Accounting, faculty, leadership of the colleges, and university support offices to enhance, update, and coordinate university research compliance resources and practices required by federal agency requirements at NSF, NIH, DOE, NASA, DOD, and other sponsors.
- Supervision of the Human Subjects Research Office staff and assistance on HSRO reliance agreements, issues, and appointments to IRB.
- Participate on appointments on university level compliance committees as a compliance representative of the VPR
- Conduct export control compliance, OFAC and banned party screening, project reviews and determinations, and creation of TCPs on sponsored research issues
- VPR Representative on information security issues and policies that affect research in concert with applicable ITS and Research Computing units, including assisting in CUI compliance for RIT researchers..
- Coordinate and assist sponsored project reviews with the Institute Biosafety Committee (IBC), the IACUC, and Radiation Safety Committee
- Advise and assist the SRS Director and SRS staff on both pre-and post award non-financial compliance issues on specific research projects, including research misconduct issues.
- Negotiate certain non-disclosure agreements, complex sponsored research contracts, handle negotiation and processing of certain DOD research contracts for several specialized units; international research collaborations, compliance terms and agreements on designated issues, sponsors or projects as directed by the VPR or the Director of Sponsored Research Services
- Other Duties as assigned
- Advanced degree
- 10 years of progressively advanced experience with the administration of university or corporate regulatory compliance, including externally sponsored academic research, OR its equivalent;
- Post award sponsored project contracting and management, or its corporate equivalent;
- Post award university project research compliance issues, or their corporate equivalent.
- 10-12 years of sponsored research compliance experience in a university setting along with specific experience with conflict of interest management, export control regulations, and Office of Foreign Assets Control issues
- Specific experience coordinating research misconduct inquiries and investigations via academic panels on federal agency funded projects at a university
- Experience with coordinating inter-institutional agreements and related issues including single IRB and human subjects review on multi-institution projects, as well Institute Biosafety Committee compliance
