Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in transport packaging dynamics, focusing on product protection, load stability, and the impact of distribution hazards.
- Execute and manage existing grant-funded projects under the direction of the PI, ensuring timely completion and effective resource allocation.
- Utilize and enhance testing methodologies within the Dynamics Lab, Unit Load Stability Lab, and Materials and Testing Lab to evaluate packaging performance.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data related to package performance in transit environments.
- Develop technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations for conferences and industry stakeholders.
- Assist in writing research proposals for federal, state, and industry-sponsored funding opportunities.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students involved in research projects, providing technical guidance and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with industry partners and academic colleagues to advance research initiatives and contribute to interdisciplinary teams.
- Manage laboratory activities, maintain lab equipment, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Engage in professional development activities, including attending workshops, networking with industry professionals, and contributing to the academic community.
Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong background in transport packaging, dynamics testing, and materials characterization.
- Experience with packaging performance testing, including ISTA and ASTM test standards.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods relevant to packaging research.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
