Rochester Midland Corporation is looking for an experienced Senior Accounting Manager for their Ogden NY office. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight and execution of key accounting functions, including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. This position will ensure Finance adds maximum value to the company by supporting business objectives through accurate and timely financial processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work closely with the Controller to lead general ledger activities, including account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, including revenue recognition, operating expense accruals, and intercompany eliminations. Familiarity with cost accounting is required.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and closing activities.
- Maintain and reconcile prepaid expense, amortization, and other accrual schedules.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to maintain sales tax registrations, collections, and payments.
- Develop, document, and implement policies to maintain and strengthen internal financial controls.
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.
- Analyze financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts to provide valuable insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operating information, including accruals, month-end allocations, and inventory valuations.
- Support the Controller in the execution of annual audits.
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller, and FP&A team members to prepare monthly financial reporting packages.
- Provide timely financial analysis/support (e.g., budget vs. actual performance) for Company-wide business needs, including custom reporting/tools for business teams.
- Participate in the development and tracking of annual budgets and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis to evaluate the impact of business decisions.
- Supervise and mentor accounting personnel, ensuring efficient and accurate financial processes.
EDUCATION/ SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- CPA is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting
- 8 years of experience in various accounting functions, including a strong working knowledge of GAAP
SKILLS:
- Microsoft Dynamics experience is a strong plus
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize, and manage deadlines under pressure
