Rochester Optical was established in Rochester, New York in 1932. At the time, the owner saw a growing need for protective tactical eyewear for the Armed Forces, aircraft pilots, and police officers. Later, Rochester Optical became one of the country's few military prescription glasses frame manufacturers and supplied the Army and the Air Force with combat-ready ballistic eyewear for soldiers. After WWII, the tactical eyewear company expanded its services to include creating and selling prescription eyeglasses for the public. Position Summary: The Driver is responsible for making deliveries and pickups for our retail and manufacturing locations is responsible for transporting packages and other goods from company facility to customer businesses. to a following a specific route within their delivery area. Their duties include loading the goods they need to deliver onto the delivery vehicle, using navigation tools to arrive delivering parcels to the correct address.

Essential Job Functions:

• Make deliveries / pickups for our retail and manufacturing locations
• Following all traffic laws, DOT regulations and best practices for safety when delivering items
• Communicating with supervisor and other team members to make deliveries
•  Meeting delivery deadlines and following assigned delivery routes
• Performing basic vehicle maintenance, such as refueling, doing visual inspections and reporting potential issues
• Preparing, loading and unloading the delivery vehicle
• Providing exceptional customer service and obtaining client or customer signatures when needed
• Completing any paperwork related to the deliveries and completing reports as required
• Using additional equipment, such as dollies, as needed

Skills & Abilities:

• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
• Computer knowledge and keyboarding skills necessary  
• Must have clean, valid New York State driver’s license
• Familiarity with using navigation systems
• Time management skills to ensure deliveries are made on schedule
• 
  
• Ability to load and unload cargo and use any machinery or equipment necessary to help
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or its equivalent

• 1 – 2 years’ shipping and receiving experience

• Professional driving experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

• Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
