- Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with students serving as a role model by demonstrating positive, proactive and respectful communications
- Provides one-on-one and group support, individualized interventions and crisis management
- Implements a curriculum that addresses the needs of students, based on their treatment plans and in a culturally appropriate manner
- Regularly and actively participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing consultation and services
- Maintains accurate records relating to services provided to students
- Provides education to students on substance use and coping skills
- Works as a part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to students
- Conducts comprehensive assessments and treatment plans
- Supports individualized treatment strategies and skills development is consistent with students needs and goals
- Provides in-service education to other school personnel to enhance their ability to promote healthy decision making around chemical health use and respond appropriately if chemical health concerns arise.
- Participates in data retreats and leadership/intervention teams to respond to the needs of the students and set site improvement goals
- Provides in-service education to other school personnel to enhance their ability to promote healthy functioning and respond appropriately to student difficulties
- Participates, as necessary, in orientation sessions for new teachers and student teachers
- Experience working with school-age students
- Experience with mental health counseling
- Experience with Alcohol and Drug Counseling
- Experience working with students from a diverse background
- Experience working with school-age students in a school setting.
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education or related field

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will primarily work with high-risk youth and their families within the school dynamic while providing a wide variety of services, such as, individual sessions, group sessions, chemical health education, family support and guidance, triage coordination, prevention education, and staff support. This position will serve as an important member of our chemical health and emotional and well-being team, working as a team to ensure the site is equipped with chemical health support.

Current PELSB license in Social Work, School Counseling, Teacher or Related Field
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor LicensePrior successful experience in urban, multicultural education desirable.
Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
