What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Video & Content position at Rochester Red Wings?
The Director of Video & Content oversees all aspects of the Rochester Red Wings’ in-stadium entertainment, live broadcasts, and digital content strategy. This role is critical in enhancing the fan experience through high-quality video storytelling, creative content production, and seamless corporate partnership integration.
We’re looking for a dynamic leader with a strong technical background, creative vision, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. While the responsibilities below outline the core expectations, this role will evolve to meet the growing needs of our organization—especially in the digital media landscape.
Offseason Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Marketing & Content Production
- Conceptualize, produce, and edit television spots and digital content for marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives.
- Capture, edit, and deliver video content for internal departments, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with sponsorship, ticketing, community relations, and social media teams to create compelling video content that aligns with the Red Wings’ brand messaging.
Staffing & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage production staff and interns.
- Develop standard operating procedures, workflows, and best practices for seasonal production staff.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and training to ensure production team members meet quality standards.
Event Production & Technical Support
- Manage audio/visual needs for non-baseball events, including corporate meetings, special events, and Diamond Catering & Suites functions.
- Oversee setups and live production for all non-game-day events requiring AV support.
Budgeting & Equipment Management
- Set and manage the annual production budget, identifying necessary equipment upgrades and long-term planning for technology investments.
- Maintain, track, and oversee the condition, functionality, and inventory of production-related equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
In-Season Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Video Board & Broadcast Production
- Design, program, and operate Daktronics video boards, ensuring a high-energy, visually engaging in-game experience.
- Direct the in-stadium entertainment show and live TV broadcasts, ensuring seamless sponsor integrations (e.g., L-bar on CCTV, custom scoreboard animations, etc.).
- Oversee in-game crowd prompts, hype videos, entertainment elements, and team features.
- Manage the execution of headshots, sponsor features, and in-game graphics.
Live Streaming & Content Archiving
- Manage live MiLB.TV, MLB.TV, and other broadcast game feeds, ensuring a high-quality, engaging streaming experience.
- Oversee the organization, archiving, and distribution of game footage for internal and external use.
- Upload and distribute game highlights and key moments via MiLB Google Drive and other content platforms before, during, and after games.
Technical Operations & Maintenance
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot video board, stats, and graphics computers for game-day operations.
- Work with sponsors to develop and execute custom video board features and commercials.
- Coordinate with Daktronics to schedule maintenance, implement software updates, and address technical issues.
- Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained and operational throughout the season.
End-of-Season Review & Content Creation
- Produce a season recap video for video boards, the team website, and marketing initiatives.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of production workflows, identifying areas for improvement and innovation for the following season.
- Ensure all archived footage is organized, backed up, and accessible for future use.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Experience with Daktronics operating systems and video board software...or ability to learn systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage staff and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Background in live event production, sports broadcasting, or in-stadium entertainment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- A passion for sports, storytelling, and fan engagement through video production.
