SUMMARY
A Dialysis Technician is responsible for operating dialysis machines and providing care to patients with kidney-related conditions. These professionals work closely with nephrologists, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care during dialysis treatments. The role includes setting up, monitoring, and maintaining dialysis equipment, ensuring patient safety, and providing direct patient care.

DEPARTMENT: Dialysis
SCHEDULE: 10 hour shift
ATTRIBUTES
Required: High school diploma
Preferred: Previous experience with dialysis technician preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As directed, takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, intake/output measurements, blood pressure and pulse oximetry.
Provides care to the patient requiring specimen collection and/or with skin care and nutritional needs, patients requiring basic dialysis procedures, and patients with acute chronic renal failure form young adult to geriatric.
Cannulates arteriovenous fistulas or arteriovenous grafts. Is aware and understands the policies and procedures regarding these procedures.
Initiates and discontinues dialysis treatments on patients. Is aware and understands the policies and procedures regarding these procedures. Notifies supervising nurse of any signs and/or symptoms displayed by the patient to indicate negative reactions to treatment. Operates and troubleshoots dialysis machines used in the clinic.
Assists with positioning, lifting, and turning patient with proper body mechanics, applying or utilizing special equipment as necessary, and ambulating the patient as directed.
Assists with care for the newly admitted, transferred, and discharged patient or expired patient (post mortem care).
Strives to maintain a patient’s maximum level of independence and encourages family participation.
Assists other team members in accomplishment of patient care and/or clinic tasks.
Documents/communicates care consistently and timely to RN to include any changes observed in condition or
behavior of patient.
Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, stocked, and functional environment by reporting equipment that is out of order.
Performs in crisis and emergency while maintaining a positive calm approach.
Assists in providing coverage a Water Technician which includes:
Maintaining a safe and accessible water supply for hemodialysis
Providing a reprocessed dialyzer for patient hemodialysis treatment
Maintaining supply inventory to ensure hemodialysis treatments can be initiated/completed
Maintaining supply inventory to ensure hemodialysis treatments can be initiated/completed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $20.18 - $27.29
